FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The short answers to the questions readers ask us most often.
How do you test a route before writing about it?
We walk it. Each route report is based on a trip by our own editorial team, with our own money and bookings. We then cross-check distances, opening seasons and prices against the official parks service or hut association before we publish.
Do you get paid to recommend gear or places?
No. We buy our own gear, pay for our own beds and take no money, free products or favours from brands, hotels or outfitters. A glowing review means we had a good week, not that someone paid for one.
Can I reprint or translate one of your articles?
Please ask first. Text and photographs on this site are protected, and we are happy to grant permission for most non-commercial uses. Write to us with the article title and where you would like to publish it.
How current is the information?
Every article carries a publication date, and we fact-check against public sources before publishing. Trail conditions, prices and regulations change constantly, so treat our reports as a strong starting point and confirm the essentials locally before you go.
Can you plan my trip for me?
We cannot — we are a magazine, not a tour operator. What we can do is point you to the right official sources: parks services, hut associations, train operators and weather services for the route you are planning.
How do I report an error?
Email us at zhaojingping@iguangmei.com with the article title, the detail you believe is wrong, and any source you have. We correct errors promptly and thank every reader who catches one.
Will the site ever carry advertisements?
If we ever introduce advertising, it will be clearly labelled and will never influence our recommendations. Our privacy policy explains exactly what data would be collected in that case — and right now, no advertising scripts run on this site.
